At work we have a lot of newspapers lying around the office (yeah, I know, ironic seeing as all our business is online, but anyway) and someone had left the paper from Sept 14th open to the comics page.
I noticed that Garfield seems to have definite views on the current firestorm over the Pope’s recent speech about Islam and faith & reason.
Seeing as this was the comic for the 14th, 2 days after the Pope’s speech, I think that there’s little chance that this is coincidental. Also, this strip appears in the middle of a series of strips with Garfield & John standing at the table with their usual banter, this one jumps out of this sequence and then the next day is back to it.
Nothing huge or significant, I just thought it was interesting. I wonder how many papers have printed this without realising what it was saying? Of course this could be dangerous, we all remember what happened last time comics about muslims were published.
